The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has disclosed that talks are ongoing to extend the Red Line Rail network to neighbouring communities in Ogun State to accommodate more commuters. In a significant move to improve air quality in Lagos, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has begun deploying low-cost air quality monitoring devices across major transport corridors in the city.  The initiative, supported by a grant from the University of Chicago’s Energy Policy Institute (EPIC) Clean Air Program, aims to provide real-time data on emissions and air pollution. The devices, sourced from manufacturers including IQAir, AirBeam, AirGradient, and Star Krest, will help track emissions from LAMATA-regulated buses. This data will support sustainable transportation policies and improve public health outcomes by enabling evidence-based decision-making.
