Tinubu Appoints Tunji Disu Acting IGP as Police Leadership Changes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police, following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun. New Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Tunji Disu. The appointment, which takes immediate effect, comes at a critical time as the Federal Government continues efforts to strengthen internal security and reposition the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency and public accountability. According to a statement by President Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy via the X-platform, Mr Bayo Onanuga disclosed that Egbetokun stepped down after submitting a resignation letter citing pressing family considerations, bringing an end to a tenure that began in June 2023 and was originally scheduled to run until 2027 under the amended Police Act.
