Tinubu Appoints Tunji Disu Acting IGP as Police Leadership Changes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police, following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun. New Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Tunji Disu. The appointment, which takes immediate effect, comes at a critical time as the Federal Government continues efforts to strengthen internal security and reposition the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency and public accountability. According to a statement by President Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy via the X-platform, Mr Bayo Onanuga disclosed that Egbetokun stepped down after submitting a resignation letter citing pressing family considerations, bringing an end to a tenure that began in June 2023 and was originally scheduled to run until 2027 under the amended Police Act. President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday in Abuja, swore in the sixth substantive chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN).   President Bola Tinubu congratulating Prof. Joash Amupitan at his swearing in at the Council chamber of the State House, Abuja.
