Sanwo-Olu Orders Immediate Waste Evacuation as Lagos Battles Refuse Backlog

Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.  Residents of Lagos have recently voiced concerns over the growing heaps of refuse in some parts of the state. In response, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered an immediate scale-up of waste evacuation operations, assuring Lagosians that the situation is being addressed with urgency and determination. According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, on Thursday, the Governor directed all relevant agencies and service providers to intensify efforts and work round the clock to clear the backlog of waste and restore normalcy across affected communities.   The government acknowledged the inconveniences caused by the temporary disruption in waste collection, stressing that residents deserve a clean, healthy and environmentally sustainable city.   "Governor Sanwo-Olu has consequently directed an immediate scale-up of waste evacuation operations across the state,...

Youth Empowerment: 500 Graduates from Lagos Vocational Skill Centres, Govt Reaffirms Commitment

  The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and economic development with the successful graduation of participants from the Technical, Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) Programme. The graduation ceremony, themed “Empowering the Youths: From Knowledge to Income,” marked the successful completion of a six-week intensive vocational training programme designed to equip participants with practical, entrepreneurial, and income-generating skills. A total of 500 youths were trained across five vocational fields, including computer and phone repair, photography and videography, graphic design, cosmetology, and mixology, as part of the State Government’s strategic efforts to reduce unemployment and promote self-reliance among young people.
