LAGOS GOVT SETS STAGE FOR Y2026 BUDGET, CALLS STAKEHOLDERS TO CONSULTATIVE FORUM

The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of its Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum on the Year 2026 Budget, a participatory exercise aimed at involving residents in shaping the State’s developmental priorities.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, the consultative sessions will run across the five divisions of Lagos State, beginning Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Ikeja and concluding Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in Badagry.

The fora will feature representatives from Community Development Associations, traditional rulers, professional and religious bodies, civil society groups, non-governmental and trade organizations, youth groups, and people living with disabilities. Members of the general public are also encouraged to attend, with provisions made for both physical and virtual participation.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, described the consultative forum as a cornerstone of Lagos’ budgetary process, noting that the initiative underscores the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to participatory governance and evidence-based planning.

“The budget is about the people, and this process ensures that the voices of Lagosians remain central to our governance,” George said.

The sessions will hold at designated venues across the divisions as follows:

Ikeja Division – Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at Multipurpose Hall, Radio Lagos, Agidingbi

Lagos Division – Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at Eko Club, Surulere

All sessions are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Residents unable to attend physically can participate virtually by sending an email with their division to budget@lagosstate.gov.ng.

The State Government urged all stakeholders to seize the opportunity to make meaningful contributions towards building “a Greater Lagos and a 21st Century Economy.”
