Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, Uzodinma, Aliyu to Grace National Women Conference in Lagos
Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), has unveiled activities lined up for the Silver Jubilee edition of the National Women’s Conference (NWC), describing it as a landmark celebration of visionary legacy, women empowerment, and transformative leadership.
The First Lady of Lagos State and COWLSO Chairman, Dr. (Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, speaking on Thursday during a media briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, said the 25th NWC themed “25 Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation,” is a reflection of the Committee’s sustained commitment to advancing the welfare, leadership, and economic empowerment of women in Lagos and beyond.

She announced that the three-day Conference will commence from Tuesday, 28th to Thursday day, 30th October 2025, at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with about 3,000 physical delegates and 2,000 virtual participants from across Nigeria and beyond would be in attendance.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will be delivering the 25 years Silver Jubilee Address at the Conference, while the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma and his Sokoto State counterpart, Governor Ahmad Aliyu will be the Special Guests of Honour at the Opening and Closing Ceremony respectively as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Host.
She noted that the participation of very important personalities and dignitaries at the event underscore COWLSO’s growing national influence and its role as a unifying platform for promoting women’s development across the country.
“For a quarter of a century, COWLSO has stood tall as a formidable platform committed to the advancement, empowerment, and transformation of women here in Lagos and across Nigeria.
“This milestone edition challenges us to reflect on our journey, celebrate our legacies, and hand the baton to the next generation of women leaders and change-makers," she said.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu revealed that several pre-conference activities have already commenced to extend the conference’s impact to the grassroots. These include free health screenings, environmental sanitation exercises, empowerment of vulnerable persons, and visits to orphanages and care homes.
In addition, she said that the annual COWLSO Pre-Conference Awareness Walk will hold on Saturday, 11th October 2025, in Ikorodu, with the theme 'Step Up, Show Up, Never Give Up' with the aim of sensitizing residents about the upcoming Conference and inspire resilience among women.
While stating that the 25th NWC promises an engaging line-up of plenary discussions, exhibitions, and interactive sessions, the Lagos First Lady listed some of the key highlight sessions at the Conference to include: “Practical Apps for Easier Daily Living, Business Support, and Improved Productivity" and “Women Championing Traffic Discipline through Inclusive and Smarter Transportation Systems."
Others include “Nurturing a Healthy Marriage through Self-Care and Wellness,” to be chaired by Professor Olatunji Bello, with contributions from Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo and Mrs. Abimbola Akinwunmi"; Women as Change-Makers: Combating Trafficking, Organ Harvesting, and Unsafe Practices,” to be chaired by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Dame Julie Okah-Donli, or Mrs. Nkemdilim Okonkwo, just to mention a few.

Some of the attractions at the Conference include the COWLSO Physical and Virtual Markets, where participants can purchase goods and services at subsidized rates, and the Gala Night featuring entertainment, cultural showcases, and raffle draws.
Earlier, the Chairman of the 2025 National Women’s Conference, Dr. Olayemi Oke-Osanyitolu, described the forthcoming event as a historic Silver Jubilee celebration of women’s empowerment, leadership, and service.
She expressed gratitude to the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Sanwo-Olu, for her exemplary leadership and commitment to advancing the cause of women in Lagos and beyond.
Dr. Oke-Osanyitolu noted that this year’s edition promises to be intellectually stimulating, entertaining, and impactful, featuring thought-provoking sessions on leadership, entrepreneurship, marriage, career development, and personal growth, addiing that the conference has, over the years, earned a reputation for its strong organization and meaningful outcomes that inspire women to drive positive change in their communities.

The Press Conference was attended by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, executives and members of COWLSO, among others.
