LASG Expands Public Service Workspace by 19,525m², Pledges Sustained Infrastructure Maintenance

The Lagos State Government says it has expanded office accommodation for public servants by an additional 19,525 square metres to improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and reduce reliance on rented office spaces.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Dr. Adekunle Olayinka, disclosed this on Monday during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing marking the third anniversary of the second term of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

Olayinka said the administration remains committed to infrastructure-led development as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and improved living standards for residents.

He cited the completion and commissioning of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex and Revenue House within the Alausa Secretariat as part of efforts to strengthen public sector efficiency and improve the working environment for government employees.

According to him, the projects align with the administration's THEMES+ Agenda and the Lagos State Development Plan 2052, which prioritise infrastructure renewal, maintenance, and sustainable development.

The Special Adviser noted that since assuming office, the administration has focused on completing inherited projects while initiating new infrastructure programmes aimed at strengthening governance, public institutions, healthcare delivery, and socio-economic development across the state.

He explained that the Office of Works serves as a consulting agency for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), overseeing project planning, implementation, and quality assurance across sectors.

"The government has continued to invest deliberately in infrastructure as a means of fulfilling its social contract with Lagosians. Beyond improving public services, these projects have created employment opportunities and stimulated economic activities across the state," Olayinka said.

Highlighting ongoing and completed projects, he said the state is making significant investments in healthcare infrastructure, including the 280-bed General Hospital in Ojo, the 150-bed Massey Children's Hospital and multi-level car park, the 1,500-bed Psychiatric Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Ketu-Ejinrin, and a hostel annexe at the Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando.

In the justice and security sectors, he listed the renovation of magistrates' courts, construction of the Lagos State Judiciary Sheriff Warehouse in Majidun, Ikorodu, the Police Community Relations Committee Hall, additional facilities at the Alausa Barracks Police Station, and the reconstruction of the Lekki Ancient Town Divisional Police Station.

Olayinka also highlighted investments in education, including the construction and furnishing of office complexes, lecture theatres, tutorial rooms, and laboratories at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, and the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Ijanikin. Other projects include a 460-seat lecture theatre at the Epe Campus in Noforija, the Central Library Building at Lagos State University, Ojo, the remodelling of the University of Lagos main gate, and the e-GIS Headquarters in Alausa.

The Special Adviser said infrastructure sustainability remains a key focus of the administration, stressing that maintaining existing assets is as important as delivering new projects.

"We adopt a two-pronged approach by ensuring routine maintenance of existing infrastructure and continuously rehabilitating and upgrading critical public assets to preserve their value and functionality," he said.
