…Flags Off 2025 Professional Week
The Lagos State Chapter of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) on Tuesday, restated its support for Lagos State government economic agenda, as well as renewed commitment to professionalism and service to humanity.
This was stated at a press briefing to flag off APBN 2025 Professional Week, at the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) Secretariat, Central Business District (CBD), Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of APBN Lagos, Bldr. Asimiyu-Towolawi Bashir, restated the association role which was designed to promote collaboration among professional bodies, deepen ethical standards, and encourage a culture of service among practitioners across disciplines.
According to him, the 2025 Professional Week reflects the association’s drive to uphold the ideals of integrity, excellence, and social responsibility among its members.
“This year’s activities reaffirm our commitment to professionalism and our role in supporting the socio-economic growth of Lagos State and Nigeria.
“We are building stronger partnerships and developing capacity through courtesy visits across professions, and ensuring that our contributions remain relevant to the evolving needs of society,” Bldr. Bashir said.
The APBN Chairman said the association serves as a key link between the professions, the government, and the private sector in advancing policies and initiatives that foster sustainable growth.
The Lagos Chapter, Bashir noted, has consistently played a pivotal role in this mission through capacity-building programmes, mentorship sessions, and advocacy engagements aimed at strengthening professional practice and governance.
He said that in 2025, the chapter organized several trainings and mentorship programmes focusing on diverse areas such as “The Role of Professional Bodies in the Lagos State THEMES+ Agenda,” “Embracing Technology in Libraries: Enhancing Access to Information and Community Engagement,” and “Productivity Hacks for Administrators: Managing Multiple Tasks and Priorities.”
“These initiatives reflect our dedication to equipping professionals with the skills and values needed to serve the public effectively,” he added.
Bldr. Bashir further noted that under the current leadership, APBN Lagos has prioritized policy advocacy, mentorship, and collaboration with government and private institutions to enhance professional impact and promote ethical values.
The association hosts a membership of 33 professional bodies in Lagos State, including the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV); Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA); Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN); Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN); Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP); Nigeria Computer Society (NCS, formerly Computer Association of Nigeria); Nigeria Library Association (NLA); Nigerian Bar Association (NBA); Nigerian Medical Association (NMA); and Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), among others.
This year’s Professional Week features a line-up of activities, including a Press Briefing (held November 11), a Church Service at Alausa Church (November 16), a Seminar (November 18), a Courtesy Visit to the Spinal Cord Injuries Centre, Mile 2 (November 19), and a Jumat Service at the Alausa Secretariat Central Mosque (November 21).
Bldr. Bashir described the events as part of the association’s broader efforts to strengthen professional unity and extend compassion to the less privileged.
