Just In: FG DECLARES TUESDAY, JULY 15 PUBLIC HOLIDAY TO HONOUR LATE EX-PRESIDENT BUHARI
The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
This announcement follows the ongoing seven-day national mourning period declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, noting that the holiday serves as a mark of respect for Buhari’s service and contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and national development.
“President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of our great nation,” Tunji-Ojo said.
He urged Nigerians to use the day to reflect on Buhari’s legacy by promoting peace, patriotism, and unity.
Meanwhile, national flags are to fly at half-mast until Saturday, July 19, as a symbol of mourning. The Federal Government also extended its condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians.
