1.3km Amikanle Road Project Nears Completion as State Officials Visit Site
The 1.3-kilometre stretch, part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader infrastructure renewal programme, is expected to enhance access, boost local economic activities, attract investment, and improve safety and connectivity for residents.
The inspection was led by Arc. Awoyemi Yusuf, Deputy Director at the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit under the Office of the Chief of Staff. He was joined by officials from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, and the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD).
According to the team, the visit was to assess the technical quality of the road, check for compliance with design specifications, and ensure it meets environmental and safety standards. Aesthetic appeal and overall value for public investment were also part of the evaluation criteria.
The inspection team was received by the project contractor’s representative, members of the Community Development Association (CDA), and some residents. After reviewing the road, a few issues were identified, prompting a joint agreement between the contractor, the community, and government officials to carry out quick remedial work to prepare the road for formal commissioning.
