Jobe Bellingham Joins Borussia Dortmund in Landmark Transfer
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland in a deal worth up to €33 million, including add-ons. The England youth international has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until 2030.
Bellingham, who helped Sunderland secure promotion to the Premier League in the 2024/25 season, follows in the footsteps of his older brother Jude Bellingham, who also rose to prominence at Dortmund before joining Real Madrid. However, Jobe has insisted he is “not here to follow anyone’s footsteps” and aims to build his own legacy in Germany. The move marks Sunderland’s record transfer sale and underlines Dortmund’s commitment to nurturing young talent. Bellingham is expected to join up with the squad ahead of their campaign at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States later this month.
This signing continues Dortmund’s tradition of developing elite young players, with Bellingham set to play a key role in their midfield for seasons to come.
